Free taco - thanks Jacoby!

Thanks to a stolen base last night by the center fielder for the Boston Red Sox, Jacoby Ellsbury, my cuz, everyone in America gets a free taco from Taco Bell on Oct. 30th from 2pm-5pm. Jacoby stole base during Game 2 which was the first of the 2007 Major League Baseball World Series. Taco Bell also donated $20,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of America in Jacoby's name. Way to go Jacoby!

Hunting

Saturday, John and his Dad (John) took his mom and I on a little hunting trip to their "spot" which is out in Wyoming somewhere. We left early in the morning and stopped in Evanston for breakfast before heading up the mountain. They showed us where they camp every year and their special spot that they look for deer. It was cold but John's mom, Ethelyn (a.k.a. Pixie) was well prepared so I layered up quite a bit. We saw a moose but there were no deer to be found. The most action we saw was John's parents got a flat tire on our way back down the mountain!

Chicago 2007

In September my mom & I went to Chicago to visit Michael for a few days. We had so much fun exploring "the windy city". Our first day there we went to the Shedd Aquarium that is right next to Lake Michigan. That night we went to see the play "Wicked: The untold story of the witches of Oz". It was so amazing and gave you a different view of the wicked witch and how she became so wicked. I absolutely loved it!! The next day, Mike & I met up with some guys from my work and went to the Cubs game at Wrigley Field while my mom went to some art museums. We had so much fun hangin out and eating cottoncandy. After the game we met up with my mom and went for a tour of the city by taking an awesome boat ride on the Chicago River that flows right thru downtown and out to Lake Michigan. We got to see great views of the Chicago skyline and Navy Pier. It's a good thing I don't live in Chicago because they have this awesome shopping area called "The Magnificent Mile" that has all the greatest stores you could ever want on one street. I was in shopping heaven! Our third day was Museum day. We went to the Museum of Science and Industry, the Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum of Natural History where we saw some cool American Indian artifacts and "Sue" the world's largest, most complete, and best-preserved T-Rex. That evening we went to the top of the John Hancock Building for a great view of Chicago. It was similar to the Empire State Building in New York. We flew home the next day. It was a very busy trip but we got to see a lot of great things and I got to eat a Chicago hot dog :)

Day trip to the Uintah's

Before my brother Michael left to move to Chicago, our family decided to take a day trip to the Uintah Mountains. We drove to Mirror Lake, had a picnic and walked around the lake. It was great weather and Amos had so much fun in the water. He tried so hard to get his frisbee from the water and it was funny to watch him stumble in the water from all the rocks underneath. I finally had to go out and get it for him. After Mirror Lake we stopped at Provo River Falls for awhile before heading home.

Wild Cow Milking Contest - Strawberry Days

So my brother, Mike, participated in the Wild Cow Milking Contest this past week at the Strawberry Days in PG with some friends from work. Now, Michael is a pretty boy who has never milked any animal his life! Luckily we grew up with horses so that gave him some experience with large animals. Mix that with his passion for adventure and challenge and you've got a city slicker cowboy! Mike was in charge of actually milking the cow and if succesful, run it up to the judges. They were able to pull it off Thursday and made it to the finals on Saturday which they won first place!! He got the largest gold buckle I've ever seen :) Way to go Mike! Here's a link to their first win on Thursday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37VOIZ7VQOE
