This was our first Christmas in our first apartment together. It was a little sad not being at my mom's house for the first time, but I was also VERY excited! John was so excited he could barely go to sleep. He loves presents so much! He woke up about 7am wanting to open presents immediately. We had a great Christmas morning and John surprised me with a new professional digital camera that I absolutely LOVE! I would have loved to take it easy all day, but I have a lot of family so the whole day was spent going, going, going. Luckily we went to my step-dad's house on Christmas Eve so we only had 3 places to go on Christmas Day. We started out at John's parents, had breakfast and opened presents. Then we went to my dad's house for a while. After that we headed to my mom's. Since we arrived early, we were able to take a break and take Amos to the park to play with his frisbee that he got for Christmas. We then went back to my mom's for dinner and presents. After we got home, Amos FINALLY was able to chew on his ginormous xmas bone. It was a hectic day but very enjoyable.

Girls Park City Getaway
Since we have the nicest boss, all the girls from work got to go on an overnight getaway to Park City and a giftcard! We got 2 beautiful condos, tons of food, snacks and drinks. We went to a fancy dinner on main street and then went back to the condo and spent the evening talking and laughing. The next morning we went to breakfast and a few of us went to use our giftcards at the spa while some of the others went shopping. I chose to go to the spa and it was AWESOME! I had a massage and body scrup that was amazing. Thanks Steve!!

Festival of the Trees 2007
It's that time of year again :) For the 2nd year I have volunteered at the opening night of The Festival of Trees at the Southtowne Expo Center with Lynzie. Like last year, I check the invoices when people buy the trees. It's fun because I also get to see how much the trees get sold for and we write down all the big sellers so we can go look at them when were done. I had fun and look forward to next year. I think I'll do a tree next year for my dad :)

Boston Red Sox - '07 World Series Champs!
So Good! So Good! Well....they did it! The Boston Red Sox have won the 2007 World Series! They beat out the Colorado Rockies in Game 4 last night. This is their second World Series win in the past 4 seasons. It's been so fun and exciting to watch and I am so proud of Jacoby Ellsbury for stepping up to the plate when Coco Crisp couldn't. I am SO proud of him and he is extremely happy to be living his dream. You make the family proud!! CONGRATULATIONS!! We'll come see you play in Boston next year!

Free taco - thanks Jacoby!
Thanks to a stolen base last night by the center fielder for the Boston Red Sox, Jacoby Ellsbury, my cuz, everyone in America gets a free taco from Taco Bell on Oct. 30th from 2pm-5pm. Jacoby stole base during Game 2 which was the first of the 2007 Major League Baseball World Series. Taco Bell also donated $20,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of America in Jacoby's name. Way to go Jacoby!

Hunting
Saturday, John and his Dad (John) took his mom and I on a little hunting trip to their "spot" which is out in Wyoming somewhere. We left early in the morning and stopped in Evanston for breakfast before heading up the mountain. They showed us where they camp every year and their special spot that they look for deer. It was cold but John's mom, Ethelyn (a.k.a. Pixie) was well prepared so I layered up quite a bit. We saw a moose but there were no deer to be found. The most action we saw was John's parents got a flat tire on our way back down the mountain!

Chicago 2007
In September my mom & I went to Chicago to visit Michael for a few days. We had so much fun exploring "the windy city". Our first day there we went to the Shedd Aquarium that is right next to Lake Michigan. That night we went to see the play "Wicked: The untold story of the witches of Oz". It was so amazing and gave you a different view of the wicked witch and how she became so wicked. I absolutely loved it!! The next day, Mike & I met up with some guys from my work and went to the Cubs game at Wrigley Field while my mom went to some art museums. We had so much fun hangin out and eating cottoncandy. After the game we met up with my mom and went for a tour of the city by taking an awesome boat ride on the Chicago River that flows right thru downtown and out to Lake Michigan. We got to see great views of the Chicago skyline and Navy Pier. It's a good thing I don't live in Chicago because they have this awesome shopping area called "The Magnificent Mile" that has all the greatest stores you could ever want on one street. I was in shopping heaven! Our third day was Museum day. We went to the Museum of Science and Industry, the Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum of Natural History where we saw some cool American Indian artifacts and "Sue" the world's largest, most complete, and best-preserved T-Rex. That evening we went to the top of the John Hancock Building for a great view of Chicago. It was similar to the Empire State Building in New York. We flew home the next day. It was a very busy trip but we got to see a lot of great things and I got to eat a Chicago hot dog :)

Day trip to the Uintah's
Before my brother Michael left to move to Chicago, our family decided to take a day trip to the Uintah Mountains. We drove to Mirror Lake, had a picnic and walked around the lake. It was great weather and Amos had so much fun in the water. He tried so hard to get his frisbee from the water and it was funny to watch him stumble in the water from all the rocks underneath. I finally had to go out and get it for him. After Mirror Lake we stopped at Provo River Falls for awhile before heading home.

Wild Cow Milking Contest - Strawberry Days
So my brother, Mike, participated in the Wild Cow Milking Contest this past week at the Strawberry Days in PG with some friends from work. Now, Michael is a pretty boy who has never milked any animal his life! Luckily we grew up with horses so that gave him some experience with large animals. Mix that with his passion for adventure and challenge and you've got a city slicker cowboy! Mike was in charge of actually milking the cow and if succesful, run it up to the judges. They were able to pull it off Thursday and made it to the finals on Saturday which they won first place!! He got the largest gold buckle I've ever seen :) Way to go Mike! Here's a link to their first win on Thursday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37VOIZ7VQOE

Monster Truck Jam - Vegas 2007
John and I went to the Monster Truck Jam Finals in Vegas with my family. It's a little redneck but its something we started doing last year and have really enjoyed it! One of the nights we went up the Eiffel Tower and saw some great views of the Vegas Strip and the water show at the Bellagio. We also went to the "Bodies: The Exhibition" at the Tropicana. Its a phenomenal exhibit about the human body which features actual human specimans. It was very interesting. So other than our crappy hotel, we had a good time and can't wait for next year!

Gia's Wedding
My little sister Andrea "Gia" and her fiance' Timothy Carter got married at Noah's in Pleasant Grove. I forgot to get shoes so I had to go to the mall the morning of the wedding and then rush to Noah's to help my older sister, Leigh, finish the flowers. The place was beautiful and I had so much fun getting ready and helping the other bridesmaids get ready for the ceremony. After the ceremony we had lunch catered by Goodwood which may not have been the best choice for Gia since she was wearing a white dress and she is one of the clumbsiest people I know. She always spills! But we found a quick fix and she tucked the table cloth into her dress so it wouldn't spill onto her beautiful dress. After the luncheon we had a quick break, took some pictures and then started the reception. It was a long and hectic day but my little sister got the wedding of her dreams. Congrats Gia and Tim!!
