It's a boy!

About a year and a half ago I had to put my baby girl, Kira, to sleep due to a tumor in her leg. She was a pekingese and about 10 yrs old. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do and I miss her so much. I thought I wouldn't want another puppy for a very long time, especially since we already have Amos. But one day I decided to look online, just look of course, and it must have been fate because I found this adorable puppy that was at a Provo pet rescue shelter and was going to be showing at a local petsmart that very weekend. He was part pekingese but had another breed mixed in that made him just different enough that he wouldn't always remind me of Kira. I sent the web link to John at work thinking he would say no as he always did whenever I brought up another puppy. But he immediately responded that he wanted to get him. I thought he was joking but he wasn't and said that we could go see him that weekend. If I like him enough John said he would get him for my early birthday present :) So off we went to Petsmart that Saturday morning and there were a ton of people. We filled out an application and found out there were 2 other applicant's for the same puppy, even before the puppies arrived! I was so nervous that we wouldn't get him. Finally the rescue shelter people arrived with the dogs and he was SO sweet! He was the only puppy that wasn't barking and freaking out. I immediately knew I had to have him, so like a spy I found out who else applied for him and put my people skills to work. One of the families was looking for a dog for their mom and luckily the mom called and said she found another dog so they backed out. The other family chose a smaller baby puppy that someone convinced them would be a better fit for the kids. I wonder who that was? Wow, we got the dog we wanted! I was so incredibly happy and we spent more money than expected on beds, toys, leashes, collars, bones, etc for the new puppy. We took him home and gave him a bath before introducing him to his big brother Amos Moses. It took a few days for them to get used to each other but eventually they bonded. It took even longer to settle on a name. I wanted to name him Boozer but John hates the Jazz so we finally decided to name him Homer J. I'll admit, it took me a while but it began to grow on me. I luv you Homer J!
